Simplify Your Morning Routine

If you've ever opened your bathroom cabinet or drawer and were met with a jumble of half-used lotions, an array of makeup that's been in there since you can't remember when and some samples of skincare you will never use, you are not alone!

Personal care items can easily become clutter. Purchasing a new cream, gloss or eyeshadow can be a quick pick me up, and excitement for a new product can leave the old partly used one sitting untouched, until the cycle starts over again.

Clutter in this category isn't always so obvious - it's not piles or bursting closets - but it is visual and mental noise. The kind that can quietly chip away at your energy every morning.

  • Multiple versions of the same product

  • Items you used to love and feel bad throwing out

  • Samples that might come in handy someday

Imagine how your morning would be if you opened your drawer or cabinet and only saw the items you actually use? The mascara you love. The face cream that actually works! The conditioner that makes you hair just right.

Creating that space isn't about having the perfect drawer organizer or about embracing minimalism either.

It's about being intentional with your time, money and space.

Here are a few ways to get there:

  1. Notice what you actually use, and what makes you feel your best! If you didn't like the scent, or the color wasn't right, it's time to let it go.

  2. Embrace the "one in, one out" rule. If you buy a new product, what will you let go of to make room for it?

  3. Seasonally declutter. Makeup and skincare isn't good forever, so it's a great idea to declutter quarterly. Try taking a sharpie and writing the date you open a product on the bottom. An easy way to know how long your item has been opened, and if it is time to toss it.

  4. Keep your daily use items easily accessible. If you have specialty items, or a backup, keep it in a labeled bin or basket outside where your daily items are stored.
